I normally don't build my own music pages anymore but when "Texas Jake Lee", (my good friend) ask me to join him here I wanted to enjoy the fun of building this lil' JOOK
53 years ago, (that's right, fifty three years ago, yes, I'm an old Bluesman) my parents were running all around the country playing their music, (mostly country music but, don't eva' think Hank Sr. didn't have a lil' Blues in his craw) and I just kept on buggin' them to teach me to play the guitar. I didn't know it but that was my Fathers intentions anyway but he was just waiting for me to be ready I reckon.
From the very first day I was able to make a chord (probably a thumb and flipper finger G chord) I was hooked from the outside to the bone. I plunked around on their guitars for a few years until my Father bought me a Gibson J-50 (Jumbo) sunburst acoustic. Wow, first thing I had to do was get my name on it so everyone would know that sucka' was mine, lol. Hell, I couldn't hardly get my arm ova' it.
My Father started elaborating on how to feel the music you play and for some reason I took to that like a chicken to the corn. I got to where I didn't want to play the music other peoples play I wanted to play what I was feeling and to this very day, that is exactly how I play.
Hey, I'm happy as all get out when I am jammin' on one of my guitars and/or singing something I wrote. I feel good and when I hit that lil' special cool ass lick (riff) that came from who knows where, (you know what I'm talkin' about, don't you), I grin my ass off about it cause I love it. Makes me feel Gooooooood Baby!
I have played most everyday since way back then, (except when I was in jail, in the Marines, laid up in hospitals and ect.) and still do today! When I wake up in the mornings I do my early morning chores, (again, you know what I'm talkin', right) I head right to my guitars and play myself SOME BLUES BABY! Just makes my day better and keeps me off the ass's that get a lil' lazy around here sometimes.
I have the best song I think I eva' wrote in the works and hope to get it recorded here at my home studio before too much longer, (runnin' outa' time, ya' know). When and if I get it completed I think all artists and fans that know of me will remember me by this track. It's my all and I think it will live till time ends.
Thank you for your time and I hope one of my Happy Blues tracks makes what eva' is makin' you feel sad go away!
