Found out today that I've been voted onto the Board of Directors for the Frisco Association for the Arts. WOOT!!!Dec 15
A Little Bit About The Roadhouse
Welcome to The Roadhouse. If you've come this far, you must be a fan of the blues. So for that, let me thank you. You probably want to know more about this site, such as who started it and why. So I'm here to try and tell you a little bit about that.
I'm just a blues fan like you. I happen to work in the technology field. So I get a chance now and then to play around with new stuff like this. I've been on a mission to find technology out there to try and help musicians reach a broader and broader fan base. And I wanted it to be free, because we all know how hard it is these days to make a living making music. Nothing is worse than scams that try to make money off of people that already don't have a lot of money to begin with. That's why everything on this site is free to everyone.
The idea behind this site is a simple one. Texas Blues is known around the world for it's high energy and tasty sound thanks to the pioneers that have come before us. Everybody has heard of Stevie Ray Vaughan and many have heard of Freddie King, TBone Walker and Lightning Hopkins. But how many have heard of the local musicians who are keeping the blues alive today? Yes, the answer to that is that only a few of the really passionate blues fans today know their local artists. And so the idea here is to use the banner of Texas Blues to rally the fans to one central location. That location is the Texas Blues Roadhouse. And here, the Top 1% of blues fans can share their love of live blues with blues fans from all over the world. And hopefully, we can help promote local Texas Blues to help keep the tradition alive.
Wow, great story and great article. Thanks so much for helping us document this blues history before it's all gone. We really appreciate your contributions here.
This article is great for many reasons. Yeah, we're hearing more good things about the jazz program up there at UNT. But checkout this little bit of advice from one of the young students:
"Someone told me once that the reason UNT jazz students can go off and become sustainable, working musicians, is that the program instills in you how to gig, and they encourage and foster working musicians.
Yeah, and it's not just how to gig. It's everything involved with the gig. How to show up on tim… Continue

So last night I made some time to head down to the House of Blues to meet up with Chuck to discuss some things with The Roadhouse. And while I was there, I decided to checkout The Chris Watson Band. Chris has been jamming with his dad in the local blues scene for years now. I've seen him play many times. He's a good kid with a lot of talent. And I have never seen him play with his own band. This would be my first time and probably not my last.
Chris has come a long way the last couple of years.… Continue
We have two entries in the Jimmy Smith Song Contest. Remember that we are doing this for fun to demonstrate the talent we have here in Texas today. And both candidates should be congratulated for their entries. Both are fantastic.

Remember that creating a site on Ning is totally free. And as you can see, it's extremely flexible. And with a little work, the results can look real nice.
I am now the 'TEXAS Blues Writer' for americanbluesblog.com and have finally finished my first article for them. I am going to cross post it over here...because I CAN! ; ) Hope y'all like it, and be looking for more from me as things progress. Thanks Mike, I appreciate that. The CSS almost kicked my butt, but I think I won out in the end. I was so pleased with the look of my Roadhouse page when I was done that I tweaked my artist website to match my Roadhouse page!

I hadn't noticed the landing page loading particularly slowly, but where computers are concerned, faster is always better! I did, however, notice the newest featured member... thanks much!
Michael, I posted a response to your comment on my page but I'll copy it here (still getting my sea legs on the site):

Thanks for the welcome, Michael. Glad to be here. If you get a chance, you might add keyboards to the list of Artist->Instruments, then I could lay claim to playing an instrument!
My friend Lance Lopez came to the rescue!! It was so nice of him to do this for me on his nifht off!! He is truly a professional and humbled himself to my rescue. I will always remember that he was there for me!! Hope everyone can go to SRV RIDE next Sunday!! Lance Lopez and Wes Jeans will be performing!! Both Super Stars in my eyes!! I love their rich sound and deliverance!!
Thanks Michael I will reach out to you if I ever need help again!! Thanks for being there!!
That's my Kerrville Folk Festival look. Can't make Pearl tonight. I did get
Milton Hopkins to sign my vinyl copy of his uncle Lightnin's "Goin' Away" album when
Milton played there on the 12th.

It's going OK, the tracks that I've been posting are really just rough mixes that allow some people to hear and provide feedback. We are not really planing on making a bunch of CD's, it's really just for freinds and perhaps a demo for a few clubs. Would love to here any feedback regarding the mix, the instrumentation or general recording quality. Give it to me, I'm a big boy!
